Animal Welfare Awareness Week

RA 8485 or Animal Welfare Act as strengthened by RA 10631 and other laws protecting the welfare of animals, reminds us that it is UNLAWFUL FOR ANY PERSON to do the following:
- TORTURE any animal
- NEGLECT to provide adequate care or shelter to pets
- KILL or cause to procure to be tortured *animals
- subject any dogs or horse for FIGHTS
- MALTREAT or use the same in *research
- TRADE for meat
Report killing or maltreatment incidents your nearest Police Station or Animal Welfare Groups. The person who will be found guilty is subject to IMPRISONMENT of 1-2 years and or FINE of up to 250,000 pesos.
According to Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), the celebration is aimed to inculcate in the heart and mind of individuals, particularly the youth, to love and be kind to animals, whether domesticated or wildlife. It furthers the aim of enhancing virtues of kindness, justice, and protection of all living creatures as the greatest contributing factor to maintain and restore the country's ecological balance.
Please STOP ANIMAL CRUELTY, ADOPT a PET and SAVE LIFE. Animals have no full capacity like humans do. They have emotions and can recognize but they have no voice that humans will easily understand.
*with exceptions as provided by the Animal Welfare Act
