Binan is now #2 while Antipolo City which was #1 last year came third this year among CALABARZON cities. With the inclusion of Resiliency category, NCC changed the definition of a competitive city.
Overall, Quezon City remained #1 in the entire Philippines while Tagum City is awarded as the most efficient in government services. Similarly, Santo Tomas (Batangas) was awarded #1 in Economic Dynamism among municipalities of the Philippines.
According to National Competitiveness Council, "We believe that with over 100 million people across 7,100 islands, it is important to create more economic engines in the form of local government units to drive long-term economic growth and development. Building these economic engines will disperse investment and job opportunities and spur inclusive growth."
